Background
St Ana St Rafael School has been carrying out this programme for three years, with the propose of integrating vocational training students in the bilingual programme which we have been immersed in for seven years already.
Aims.
To provide students a professional experience abroad; to achieve, both a personal autonomy increase and the use and learning of a foreign language.
Participant’s number and profile.
An enterprising and determined student with the will and attitude to adapt to all new distinctive cultural and position features has travelled to England this academic year.
We highlight her will and attitude to the milien and experience, despite her low language level.
Description of activities.
This student performed this exchange programme at a lawyer’s office (Dawson Cronwell), helping with the administrative work of the different departments, as well as attending trials with the aim of taking notes of similar proceedings to those dealt at the office.
Among the administrative tasks performed/carried out we highlight: diverse procedures in the court, accounting, invoicing and client call log.
Results achieved:
At a professional level, along with the different tutorials undertaken through the business, the student performed her roles without any difficulty. Her progression was especially noteworthy over the period of residence, as her biggest improvement coincided with this spell. Her level of English also increased. At first the student encountered some problems with the technical vocabulary, although by the end this had increased significantly.
Impact of the activities:
On her return, we partook in a conference with students from sixth form and professional skills training groups to allow the student to share the experience, in such a way that in the future, those students have an idea of the possibilities and opportunities that a life experience such as this can open.
Long term benefits:
The student in question has decided to continue with a university degree, however she is convinced, that she wishes to repeat the experience as a university student.
