Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

For our high school, which has had the Ministry of Education label "Vocational High School for the Fashion Trade" since 2009, one of the key criteria is European openings which offer a pledge of adequate training and employment opportunities. Moreover, for this prestigious area of the French fashion sector, which is internationally renowned, the expectations of luxuary fashion houses and all fashion professionals are skills for international careers (intercultural knowledge, linguistic skills and mobility). The ease of accessability into employment and the professional world has proved to be true for mobility recipients. An international opening is an integral part of our educational ambition: for example, the high school organizes educational trips abroad with the support of the Pays de la Loire Region. Additionally to ERASMUS +, the high school has also developped several partnerships with universities or training institutions abroad in countries such as South Korea and Quebec; partnerships which allow mobility from a few days up to several months within similar training institutions to our establishment. Therefore, we aim for our school to only apply for the SMP ERASMUS exchage programme plus work placements. We would like this programme to last 2 or 3 months and we would like to send 3 or 4 students per year. The students who are interested in this programme meet with the former exchange students when they come back. Our exchange students must write a report about their experience abroad and these reports are available for the rest of the students to read. In order to help our students to find a work placement, the English teacher makes sure that the documents are well written and prepares the students for telephone conversations as well. The Erasmus Departmental Coordinator sees our students to put together a good application and pays special attention to the tasks that will be carried out during the work placement to match them to the required skills. The co-ordinator also teaches the students how to use the OLS platform. Our students must have a B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and when they come back they must have at least a B2 level. The SMP ERASMUS exchage programme plus work placement is essential for our students. It provides them with a larger work experience, a wider broad-mindedness, a desire for travelling and meeting new people, and last but least, with remarkable language improvement.
