Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The University of Evry-Val d'Essonne was created in July 1991 and has been taking a part in the Erasmus programme since its inception. International mobility for all the university community has always been at the heart of the development strategy of the University. Since its creation, the Erasmus programme has allowed the University to encourage its students to become more international. Evry students have thus been able to develop their academic and profesionnal skills and to get to know other cultures. In 2014, the University of Evry Val d'Essonne naturally decided to renew its Erasmus + Charter. The higher education mobility contract of 2014-2016 is set in the frame of the new 2014-2020 multi annual programming. This project was open to student, teaching and administrative staff mobility. The students had the possibility to accomplish a mobility for studies and/or for internships in the participant countries of the Erasmus + programme. As a whole, there were 43 participants. During this project, the participants took part in 29 mobilities for studying (5898 days), 11 mobilities for training (1636 days), and 3 staff mobilities for teaching (15 days).Italy and Spain were the most attractive destinations for students mobilities for study. For internships, the preferred destinations were Germany and Poland. Among the students that received an Erasmus mobility grant, most do not receive a grant based on social criteria. The objectives of this project were to better the skills of the participating students, including their language skills, to foster the development of the staff by exposing them to new teaching methods, and to reinforce the links between the University and its partners acting as host institutions to the students and the staff. The main activities carried out for this project are the staff and student mobilites ; aside from this, the University also carries out information activites, through meetings devoted to presenting the opportunities of mobility, information days, permanences for the orientation of students and staff wishing to carry out a mobility, and Open days. Activities are also carried out in the frame of incoming mobility, with for instance a "welcome day" for foreign students and a permanence designed to welcome the students and help them find their marks the University. The impacts observed were as follows : better language skills, widening of competences and a better knowledge of other cultures for the student mobilities. The students also think that their mobility, be it for an internship or for studying, make them more attractive to potential employers. Concerning the staff mobilities, the observed impacts were the improvement of their professional skills and a better knowledge of the higher education system of the host country.
