IES VEGA DEL TURIA as a school has been involved in the teaching of foreign languages for 20 years. We have been immersed in the bilingual programme in French in our Secondary and Bachillerato courses. Several student exchanges with France, Germany, the UK and Italy have also taken place, since language learning and knowledge of other cultures is the cornerstone of our student’s education. The teachers have also participated in different courses in foreign countries organised by several international organisations.
Our school has had the Erasmus Charter for the students of Vocational Training in Tourism since 2008. These studies include English and French languages in their syllabus. Among other goals, the staff of teachers has considered actual practice and internships in European enterprises as basic, giving those interships the same value as the ones performed in Spain. This fact has allowed the students to grow personally, to increase their knowledge of other cultures, to be able to get involved into the productive sector inside the EU, to get a better linguistic competence in other languages, and to improve their professional profiles and their entry into working life.
There have been two students in the vocational training course “Guide, information and touristic assistances” who have performed their internships abroad inside the mobility programme. Along these internships, the students have been working as guides in several museums in the city of Bath (UK).
