The University of Catania considered the process of internationalization as crucial for its global strategy. Therefore, actions achievable in the short and medium term, have been adopted togheter with others activities that will require more time for their implementation, in order to increase visibility, reputation and attractiveness. In this regard, joint actions to facilitate and increase incoming and outgoing mobility flows have been developed, through a more profitable use of existing tools, a program of internationalization of curricula and the improvement of facilities offered . In particular, the university tried to improve numerically and qualitatively mobility of teachers, students and administrative staff inside and outside Europe expanding the educational offer in English, improving services for incoming students and teachers, creating new tools for information dissemination (newsletters, brochures), constantly updating the website in English and in Italian. Moreover the participation in international projects as partners has been increased by encouraging teachers to draw up proposals for educational and international mobility projects and by improving effectiveness of the inter-institutional agreements. In this way, the number of outgoing students has been increased thanks to a successful combination of funds made available to the program (EU funds, funds University, National funds). In the meanwhile the facilities quality for incoming students and teachers has been improved thanks to the use of simplified and on-line administrative procedures which will determine ,in the long run, an increase in the number of incoming flows.
