Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The internationalization is a priority of NBU strategic plan for the period till 2020 which includes the following main objectives: - Curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate levels (in foreign languages) – incl. new international graduate and PhD ones which attract prominent lecturers and experts from abroad; - Further development of the accumulation aspect of the ECTS credit system – exploring new possibilities for international accreditation; - Further development of the quality assurance system with compatible criteria and methods – expanding active participation in international research projects and networks; - Encouraging the mobility by providing better preparation and reducing the administrative obstacles – NBU Erasmus+ office actively promotes amongst the students, lecturers and academic Erasmus coordinators the opportunities of Erasmus+ programme by organizing seminars, trainings and other meeting in order to facilitate the application and the mobility process. NBU tries to expand the placement mobility. A placement at a company is an obligatory component of the curriculum for all (under)graduate programmes. For the past couple of years NBU managed to involve in placement mobility only 2 students per year. In order to activate this process in the upcoming year NBU is considering to use the mediation of a specialized consortium. For 2014/2015 academic year NBU administered 44 outgoing student mobilities (42 SMS and 2 SMP – Bachelor and Master cycle) and 16 staff mobilities (13 staff mobilities for teaching and 3 for training). NBU has been a hosting university for 54 incoming students. A tendency of increasing the number of Erasmus students visiting our university is easily identified. This increasing interest comes partially as a result of the good feedback given by our former foreign students at NBU and also as a reflection of the innovative and creative way of teaching of the academic staff during Erasmus mobility. Another important factor is the fact that NBU tries to meet the requirements of the market - thus it continues to be dynamic in developing contemporary curriculums in foreign languages. Among main NBU academic and research priorities is to become recognized as one of the international research centers with specialized laboratories and competitive projects. NBU brings together scholars who are able to create up-to-date curriculums and courses and to experiment new educational methods, communicate actively with national and international education institutions and develop a number of international projects. Key Action 1 and 2, especially Mobility project for higher education students and staff, facilitates the collaboration between European universities which provides ground for further participation in international projects within and outside the European Union.
