Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The 2014-2015 project made possible the mobility of 33 students for a duration of 151 months to 13 destination countries. EESAB, composed of 4 sites, thus reinforced student mobility, ensuring that there be a pedagogical relation with the diversity of destinations. While the United Kingdom remains the prime destination for students, we can note the scope of destinations to 19 European schools. The average lenght of stay is 4 months, which often corresponds to one semester and which is in accordance with art school courses and the pedagogical project ; year four being more favourable and for one semester. The 33 student mobilities correspond to EESAB students enrolled in years two and four, from the options ART, COMMUNICATION and DESIGN, however it is primarily the students in ART who benefitted from courses in sculpture, painting, printing, ceramics and drawing. These mobilities enabled them to develop their open-mindedness, their interest in Europe, their inter-cultural cooperation, their discovery of varied artistic practices and also to develop a critical, social and political mind. The students all took full advantage of their stay and the reports that they completed on line are very positive (improvement in language, in their personal development and the benefit of their stay on their professional career). The majority of students obtained all their ECTS and these were fully recognised by our establishment. Concerning teacher mobility our goal was to send 4 teachers; 2 were sent : 1 in Design and 1 in Art. This is an issue we regret and which will be object of our attention in the future. The 2 teachers provided lessons within the framework of workshops, which aided to consolidate our partnerships and exchange teaching practices. These 2 mobilities to Glasgow and Rome permitted to improve mutual acknowledgement and to welcome, in return, students from Glasgow and teachers from Rome. In the long term, the revived partnership, thanks to the teacher mobility to Glasgow, allows us to envisage further teacher exchanges and increased student mobility. Finally, as regards staff training mobility, we had planned on the departure of 2 members of staff, neither of whom went this year 2014-2015. This observation will be object of particular attention in the coming year. Globally, the student and teacher mobility at EESAB corresponds to the emancipation goals of our students and teaching staff.
