Start date: Jun 1, 2014,
End date: May 31, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
The mobility project is recent, with a first experience driven at the end of 2015. Our institution is involved in an international path since several years and the BTS reform has been a the opportunity to developp European partnershis. Innovation and Environnment are keys of succes in Agriculture, so we attach significance to give students the opportunity to experience different kind of agricultural systems and different way to study them.
As a first step, the project has only been proposed to the student following the 2nde year of BTS ACSE, that is to say 13 departures in the EU (2 in Finland, 3 in Netherlands and 8 in Spain). Courses and practical activities answer to the BTS demands, notably in Agronomics and languages.
Concretely, we sent students with some prejudices about agriculture, and some of them also met difficulties to leave French territory. Their formation in BTS ACSE demands an innovative approach of agricultural systems and a B2 level in English that was hard to reach for them. They also need an inivitative spirit during their exams that are mainly oral exams. Consequently, we wanted to better prepare them to those tests but also to offer them a professional and personal opening.
After our first year of mobility, we observed a change in the students’ behavior during the preparation of the oral exams. They appeared to be more open-minded, with a new point of view on the possibilities of evolution of agricultural companies they studied and a better ease in oral tests. We also observe more initiatives and maturity from them. We are globally satisfied about their involvement in this exchange, concerning the courses followed abroad and their abilities to integrate among foreign students’ groups. After their return in France, we assessed an improvement of two points on their average level in English. Some of the students still maintain their european network and forecast another departure to work in Europe.
In the middle term, we target to propose more departures abroad. 36 exchanges are already planned for September 2016. Our goal is to enroll the agricultural formation in an international approach by favouring the exchanges of practices and education.
