Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Roma Tre University currently counts about 40.000 students. It is an active participant in the European Union research and mobility programmes and has signed international cooperation agreements with about 400 academic institutions in different parts of the world. Roma Tre is an official member of the UNICA Network (Universities of the European Capital Cities) and took part in the Socrates Programme (I and II), Leonardo da Vinci, Alfa, Jean Monnet, Grundtvig, Minerva and Language, EU- Australia. In 2007 Roma Tre was awarded the Erasmus University Charter (EUC) and in 2014 the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education. One of the main objectives of Roma Tre is the multiplication of agreements to enhance its internationalisation process. Student and teacher Erasmus mobility of Roma Tre has increased in number during the years. Currently, there are about 500 outgoing students and the same number of incoming students. Some Erasmus agreements were signed to develop and strengthen double degrees and international curricula, for example a double degree in Law with the Université de Poitiers, another with the Universidad de Murcia and a double degree in History with the Humboldt- Universitaet Berlin. In this context a research group from Roma Tre was selected to take part in an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Project approved in 2015. The University of Roma Tre has obtained European funds for a project within the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility with the following partner countries: Albania, Serbia, and South Africa. To enhance quality mobility, Roma Tre has, since academic year 2011/2012, offered an Erasmus prize fund of 500,00 euro to each of the 38 students who gained most credits during their Erasmus stay. In the framework of mobility integration, one of the best results achieved in the academic year 2014/2015 was the theatre staging of Moliere’s play ‘Tartuffe’ which was performed in French at Roma Tre’s Palladium Theatre 50% of the cast was made up of students from Roma Tre while the remaining 50% were Erasmus incoming students. About 70% of Erasmus outgoing students attend the first cycle or single cycle of study, 30% the second cycle, while just 1 student attends the third cycle. In the area of teacher mobility, about 1% of teachers are contract professors. The effort of Roma Tre to develop the Erasmus Programme has been confirmed by response to our call for students. In 2014/2015: 1203 applications were received. Roma Tre has a Language Centre that offers our outgoing students frontal lessons, e-learning, workshops, and Tandem-learning to improve their language competence. Roma Tre adopted the European Commission suggestion to fix B1 language level as the compulsory level for all students before the start of their mobility. Our Language Centre offers intensive courses at various different levels to incoming students. The first language course is free of charge, while the second course costs about 100 euros, a reduced price made available only to Erasmus incoming students. Roma Tre signed an agreement with a private agency so as to help and support incoming students in finding accommodation in Rome. This service is offered free of charge for students. Furthermore, there is an Office for sports initiatives which is highly appreciated by Erasmus students, who take part in sports events with enthusiasm. Roma Tre hosts and supports an ESN (Erasmus Student Network) which arranges Erasmus Welcome Weeks, cultural events, such as archeological and art tours, cultural trips (Venice, Florence, Palermo and so on) and a cineforum. This year ESN Roma Tre launched a Buddy System service for tutoring between Italian students and incoming Erasmus students. Roma Tre offers a service dedicated to students with disabilities. Our University has recently developed an Erasmus Forum where students can exchange information about courses, examinations and practical information to organize their stay abroad (travel, accommodation, etc.). That Forum is supervised by our Erasmus departmental Coordinators. Our sectional libraries are available free of charge for all students who also have access to student canteens with reduced prices and to free wi-fi. Roma Tre Theatre, called the Palladium Theatre, offers benefits and discounts to Erasmus students interested in attending the performances (plays, music, literary events).
