High Added Value Ecofertilizers from Anaerobic Digestion Effluent Wastes (WAVALUE)
Start date: Jul 1, 2012, End date: Dec 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main objective of the WAVALUE project is to set up a pilot plant employing the Spouted Bed technology combined with chemical hydrolysis, in order to demonstrate its viability and access the involved markets (fertilizers and Digestate treatment solutions).Actual European tendencies move towards environmental friendly policies and regulations. Therefore, the WAVALUE project pretends to support these actuations giving an alternative solution for the biogas waste treatment and reconversion. Not only an energy and cost efficient technology will be designed, but also a reduction of the Digestate waste in Europe (Digestate will move from waste into a product) will be achieved. In order to reach this, the specific objectives of the WAVALUE project are the following:To achieve a sustainable, cost-effective and energy-efficient solution for anaerobic digestion effluents handling and valorization. To demonstrate the viability of applying the Spouted Bed technology combined with chemical hydrolysis for Digestate treatment at the semi-industrial scale. To obtain new high added value, well balanced, micro-granulated slow release eco-fertilizers, with varying formulations, as demanded by the consumers. To set up an Exploitation Plan to commercialize both the new fertilizers and the demonstrated technology, by penetrating into their corresponding markets. To establish potential sectors/areas where the demonstrated technology can be replicated and further exploited. To define and perform a dissemination plan so that all stakeholders become aware of the importance of the eco-innovative aspects of the project.
