Start date: Dec 1, 2013,
The youth exchange is a practical project for hands on people that would like to show their commitment for environmental protection by taking action in the touristic city of Batumi, Georgia.Situated in a breath-taking landscape at the Black Sea Cost, Batumi is growing year by year as a touristic spot for summer holidays. As other touristic cities all across the world, it is facing ecological and environmental questions due to the drastic increase of visitors, while at the same time the economic and political transition process prioritises economic growth on the costs of environmental protection. That is why, in the frame of the protection the participants shall analyse the environmental issues in Batumi, look at its potentials for ecological and sustainable tourism and develop a small Eco-Campaign to share their findings with the local population and the tourists in order to raise awareness about the environmental side of the touristic boom. The objectives of the YE are:• To raise awareness among young people about sustainable development and environmental protection• To show that environmental protection is in our hands• To plan and implement an ECO-Campaign in Batumi• To create local follow-up projects sharing the information about the ECO-Campaign in Batumi as a tool to raise ecological awareness. From 19th to 29th of June 2014, 32 participants and eight group leaders from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Spain, Belgium, Germany and Czech Republic will gather in Batumi.
