The project implemented measures for better absorption in the waterway section of the Danube from Dunaszeg to the Croatian border (1464-1433 rkm). This is an important section of the common interest Danube waterway on the Croatian-Hungarian border. The main goal of the project was to prepare plans for riverbed improvement in cooperation with all stakeholders and to conduct research which would help define the size and the markings of the waterway in the cross-border section of the Danube Achievements: The project results include a feasibility study, and hydraulic-hydrologic and geodetic research which will serve as the basis of future steps in the construction of a waterway that will allow for increased river traffic. This would encourage a shift in travel and transport towards waterways, which is supported by the EU. An expected, and also the most important goal of the project is to stimulate changes in the relevant legal and institutional systems.
