GUIDANCE - Upgrading Teachers' Competence To Face New Mechanisms Of Exclusion
The project will address the need to develop mechanisms for teachers in the area of vocational training and guidance so as to help prevent a rise in the rate of student drop-out from vocational training. Innovations in training demand a higher degree of participation, self-confidence and autonomy from apprentices. Young people who do not have the skills to take charge of their own career are at risk of exclusion. The tools for fast and efficient guidance required by teachers to help such students are not provided for in traditional training. This programme will introduce a number of methods that have already been discussed in work-sessions between the project partners, such as:° an awareness campaign on the issue;° realistic techniques for accumulation of knowledge;a qualified discussion forum that will be able to produce useful results. Central to the project is the organisation of a self-training work-based module for trainers to include an electronic logbook for accumulation of guidance experience. Resources will be provided by national mediation boards in expertise and motivation into the issue of understanding new mechanisms of exclusion. Trainers will discuss the accumulated data in monthly thematic sessions in the training centres and at transnational level. Two open conferences will be held and outcomes will be published. A conclusive report on different national experiences will also be produced.
