Grrrrr on air
Start date: Jul 23, 2014,
End date: Nov 22, 2014
PROJECT
FINISHED
The grrrrr.eu cultural portal would like to invite student radio stations and interested young people from the Great Region to take part in a workshop during the festival “Food for your senses” (FFYS) which represents one of the greatest music festivals in Luxemburg.
Grrrrr chose FFYS as an event because this festival is for the first time welcoming bands of the Great Region. This cross-border characteristic helps the festival to attract a young public composed of young people of the Great Region, who are between 15 and 30 years old. That’s the reason why Grrrrr chose this festival as background of its workshop.
The workshop will cover an overall dimension: before, during and after the festival, which takes place from 25th to 27th July, in Bissen (LU).
In order to make the participants (around 40 people) sensible to radio technics, the “grrrrr on air” workshop will begin on July 23rd Wednesday. During 2 days, they will be able to prepare themselves for the festival through learning workshops as well as talks with the radio professionals and other group leaders. On July 25th Friday begins the festival, as well as the activities on site. During 3 full days, the participants will conduct interviews; collect info in order to publish it on grrrrr.eu ; they will then put it on air during 3 days after the festival, which means that the workshop will end on July 30th Wednesday. Therefore the workshop will last 8 days, from July 23rd to 30th.
Groups of participants will be formed in bi-national tandems in order to create their own radio shows about the festival. They will cover a broad collection of topics, going from the general atmosphere, to interviews and vox pops. All these informations and articles will be posted on grrrrr.eu and put on air by the 3 partner radios (Graffiti on Radio ARA, Radio Campus Lorraine and Campus radio Trier). Leaders from the radios will help the participants in their work (technic, use of the software, tips…). In this way, the participants will develop or improve their skills in journalism in an intercultural context.
This youth exchange allows a deeper cooperation between young radios on a cross-border level. They can indeed exchange about their work vision and methods, also talk about professional opportunities or trainings. Thanks to informal talks, the participants will also have the chance to interact with different professional radios of the Great Region who will be present during the festival FFYS.
Each partner provides the workshop with a leader and takes care of finding participants in its region. Like this, there will be participants from the Great Region and professional radio redactor’s help and advices are insured.
On a long term vision, the aim is to strengthen a cross-border radio network on the Great regional scale between student and professional radios.
As soon as the project is approved, an invitation letter will be sent to the main young radios, which for the majority already worked with grrrrr on different cross-border projects.
