Green Learning Network
Start date: Nov 1, 2013,

Green Learning Network (GLN) will address the disconnect between Agriculture, Biodiversity and Rural (ABR) education and practice by creating a network of educators, agriculture professionals, institutions, learners and user communities in Lifelong Learning. Green Learning Network will deliver a rich network of practical ABR resources by creating a framework for Inquiry and Problem Based Science Education (IBSE) an active approach to Science Education which encourages learners to make investigations and form solutions. GLN brings IBSE directly into the ABR field through ‘Green Case Studies’. Cases are generated based on the direct experiences and insights of agriculture professionals, providing a focal point for collective visioning and kick-starts IBSE. The collaboration between the GLN members, both online and offline, around the green case studies will deliver high quality, innovative solutions and innovative visions for the future of ICT based education in agriculture. GLN builds on ‘Green Ideas’, a creativity event concept from Agro-Know Technologies. Green Ideas events unite experts from a range of backgrounds to vision and create innovative solutions to case studies drawn from the first-hand experiences of ABR professionals, facilitating the sharing of best practice educational techniques, creating a mini-repository of pedagogical insights from working case studies. GLN will support the productive and creative format of GI my exposing learners to the vast resources of Open Educational Resources (OER) available in the ABR field. Leveraging the outputs of current projects such as VOA3R, Organic.Edunet, and Open Discovery Space along with resource collections such as CIARD, AGLr-TF, and OER Commons, GLN will deliver to learners and educators across Europe a rich learning environment in which IBSE Scenarios, supported by a wealth of OER resources, can create productive engagements in lifelong learning between students and practitioners in the ABR field.
