The project ‘Governance of Financial Institutions and Markets in the EU’ (‘GOFIMEU’) proposes a teaching upgrade (new materials and innovative tools) and research enhancement ( workshop and publications) in a compulsory graduate course already being taught at the UNIPU. Currently, the UNIPU's curriculum comprises several (under)graduate courses (in addition to two European Modules) covering different scientific angles of EU integration studies. Different from other courses on the general topic of EU finance, ‘GOFIMEU’ demonstrates added academic value through its specialized coverage of the unique governance arrangements in EU financial system. The specialized knowledge the project delivers is imperative for its targeted group of graduates that embark on professional careers in the Croatian/EU financial sector. Henceforth, the project is immensely significant not only for increasing teaching quality at UNIPU but also for the broader development of university education in Economics in Croatia . The project substantially develops the course’s current curricula: 1) The project’s coordinator will author an advanced textbook on the project topic thus extending the teaching tools in use. 2) A workshop will be held in the last year of the project’s implementation, gathering national/European experts. Its proceedings will be published under the auspices of the UNIPU. 3) Graduate students will be invited to participate in the workshop and co-author papers with the project team (fostering teacher-student debate on the subject). 4) The project will be supported by a specifically designated open-access website, which will contribute to the project’s visibility and the dissemination of its results. An interdisciplinary (economics-law) and interuniversity (UNIPU-University of Zagreb) project team will implement the project, that will be delivered through 45 hrs of course lectures and 35 hrs of seminars (total of 75 teaching hours) in the winter semester.
