Going international
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

"Going international" is a learning project for the staff of Associazione Uniamoci Onlus; it is planned as the startup of the operational phase of a larger project of development, innovation and internationalization of the Association itself as a whole. "Going international" allowed to 6 staff members, who are involved at different levels in the activities for the education and social inclusion of adults with disability promoted by the Association, to learn new and effective management skills, new techniques, strategies and concrete and validated modus operandi that are currently used by an organization with the same aims, as Werk Diakonisches in Bremen. This process allowed to bring innovation in the field of education and social inclusion of people with disabilities where, at a local level, the usual services of assistance, transport or occupational activities, not aimed to empowerment, independent life and inclusion in the society, are the only provided. Associazione Uniamoci Onlus is supporting the participants in the use of the acquired skills within an organic development plan of the organization and in the spreading at a local level of a way to face the training of people with disability that is aimed to a real social inclusion and to the work inclusion. The project consisted of 3 mobility fluxes of a duration of 15 days each one; during the mobility the participants realized a job-shadowing in the German hosting organization: they were placed side by side to one or more professionals with roles and tasks similar to the ones they usually perform in Uniamoci Onlus; the learning process was mediated by the observation on the job and the exchange of good practices in a perspective of international comparison. Each selected participant was adequately prepared to the learning experience through some preparation meetings for a total duration of 15 hours. More in detail the project directly involved the coordinator, a psychologist, the responsible of the group activities with the users, the responsible of media and communication and two volunteers. The learning activities had a strong personal and professional impact on the participants and they increased their sense of membership to Associazione Uniamoci Onlus; furthermore the learning activities represented the driving force of the operational phase of the implementation of the development and internationalizing plan of the Association itself. The applied dissemination strategies and the planned follow-up activities unsure a strong local, regional and national impact of the project. This project promoted a deep cooperation among the two partner organizations, that , through the implementation of extended projects, could lay the groundwork for the application and the dissemination of a European shared strategy in the field of education and social inclusion of adults with disability.
