Go International is a mobility program that allows young apprentices of different professional backgrounds to complete a four-week-internship in Turkey.The program not only aims at the acquisition of vocational competences but also at intercultural education: by means of a host family stay, accompanying seminars and counselling support the intercultural learning process is facilitated, as well as through a language course that allows participants to acquire basic knowledge of Turkish and thus to further integrate into the host culture. Participating in the program is a unique learning experience that fosters an increase in independence, the development of an international perspective and the acquisition of key competences for the learners.Go International helps young people to shape their personal and professional paths successfully, to participate actively in society and to act as ambassadors for intercultural understanding. Thus, the program reacts to changes in our society and economy and meets the demand for interculturally competent professionals and citizens.In 2016, 15 program slots will be offered. Applications are open to learners in a vocational training aged 16 – 23 with basic knowledge of English or Turkish; they should have completed their first year of training, be open-minded, adaptable and interested in other cultures.The program is conducted by the exchange organization Youth For Understanding Germany; it was developed in cooperation with the German-Turkish-Youthbridge, who also acts as a funding partner. The hosting organization is Youth For Understanding Turkey.The following program components are included:- Call for participants in Germany - Selection of participants- Logistics: travel, insurance, support for visa application- Intercultural preparation:A) weekend-seminar before departure, including intercultural training and preparation to live and work in TurkeyB) arrival seminar in Turkey, including introduction to the host country and a language course- four-week-internship in a Turkish company/institution- host family stay- counselling support- post-return seminar for reflection
