‘Getting out, getting skills: tackling youth unemployment through outdoor education‘ is a group EVS project involving 24 volunteers, 11 sending organisations and 13 hosting organisations in 14 countries. The volunteers’ service will last 12 months and involves young people who have fewer opportunities and are currently unemployed. Objectives:- To provide disadvantaged, unemployed young people with the opportunity to volunteer in another country for 12 months- To prevent isolation and enhance the EVS experience by connecting volunteers in a common project- To enhance the quality of local youth work through the input of volunteers- To use outdoor education as an effective tool for developing hard and soft skills to improve the employment prospects of young people in 13 countries- To educate 24 volunteers face-to-face and via e-learning as outdoor peer educators. - To produce an IFM-SEI training manual on outdoor education as a tool to tackle youth unemploymentThe volunteers will have three main areas of activity in their host organisations:1) Supporting their host organisations to plan and run outdoor education training courses and activities as peer educators, equipping young people with hard and soft skills to assist them in finding employment.2) Learning about their host countries, helping with a children's group and contributing to other activities of their host organisations. This will vary between host organisations but can include helping organise events, publicity work and fieldwork.3) E-learning and sharing with other volunteers through an online forum and together creating a training pack on outdoor education as a tool for tackling youth unemployment based on their training experiences.
