"Get the Connection" project is implemented in Miskolc with the involvement of three volunteers for 7 months service from the following countries: Bulgaria, Spain and Portugal. Symbiosis Foundation started its activities in 1999 in Miskolc. The target group of our activities are autisitic and mentally disabled adults. Besides we provide services inclusion of these people into the society is also very important issue. That is one of our aims for applying our first EVS project in 2007. The aims of our EVS projects are social awareness raising, tolerance and create community from average and disabled young people. Symbiosis Foundation has several sites and provide different social services so volunteers are involved in various activities: they help us in our rehabilitation farm in gardening, animal care, making cheese just near the Bükk National Park. Volunteers take part in programs organized for children and in our new initiative, alternative forest school. In the day-care center and residential houses volunteers take part in the clients’ daily routine and can learn differnt handicraft techniques, e.g.: candle making, filt preparation, paperwork and participate in therapy programmes, such as dance, drama, movement theatre, dog and hyppotherapy as well as in leisure activities. Symbiosis organize regular internal and external programs durning the year. Internal programs implemented with the active participation of volunteer and based on the holidays and special days aournd the year (e.g. Christmas, St. Michaels Day, St. Martins Day etc.). Programs for the public means organizing special lessons at schools for awareness raising and promotion of Erasmus+ program, inclusion for persons with disabilities. New ideas, initiatives by volunteers are welcome.
