Annually, 2500 European youth prepare to go abroad on a long-term school exchanges organised by YFU and one of the most important steps before this is to take part in a Pre-Departure Orientation that helps students prepare for the intercultural experience that they will take part in during the coming year. While pre-departure orientations are a basic part of YFU youth mobility programmes, their content is not updated from year to year and the anti-discrimination - tolerance - intercultural understanding component is poorly developed. The training course 'Get ready!' will gather 20 participants in the city of Stockholm, Sweden, for five days in order to explore how, with the help of non-formal education, necessary skills and attitudes can be developed by young people that prepare to go on a long term youth exchange. The participants, coming from 11 countries, will also work together to create a set of guidelines and best practices and also interact with the people of Stockholm by organising a flash mob to raise public awareness related to tolerance.
