Gender Balance on Youth Projects

During the development of projects, we faced with the problems about the ambiguity of the gender mainstreaming context and the problems raised cause of the gender unequality in youthwork. The inclusion of women and LGBT people, the problems they faced during the working life and they faced the discrimination of the gender unequality and the understanding of the gender. On the other hand, it seems that the people who are disadvantaged groups faced with the problems cause of the discrimination of the gender identity to attend the youth projects. With that context, we are planning to propose some solutions to this issue and we wanted the youth workers and the youth leaders to inform intensively and we wanted to create an awareness about these issues.
The activity happened as Training Course which is implemented in Van between the dates 10.03.2015 – 17.03.2015 with the 26 participants 2 trainers and 2 support personnel from the 8 countries ( Macedonia, Czech Republic, Romania, Italy, Crotia, Poland, United Kingdom and Bulgaria ). The profile of the participants is youth workers and youth leaders between the ages 18-30 who are joined youth exchanges, trainings and so on.
Within the context of the project, in Van, we implemented workshops related to gender mainstreaming topic and informed the participants about the problems in local and region of Van. Meanwhile, with coming from the old practices, exchange of practices are happened about the inclusion of women and LGBTs to the society.
Within that project we tried to reach these aims,
- Exchanging good practices about the gender equality on youth projects
- Increasing the visibility of the disadvantaged people within the focus of Gender balance
- Equip Youthworkers for the Gender Mainstreaming topic and leading the activities which has focus on gender mainstreaming
In the end of the project, participants gained an opportunity to experience the gender mainstreaming and social inclusion and they will use that practical experience in their future projects. Within our project, the participants came from Europe, they had an opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices and they learnt how to include the disadvantaged young people and they had opportunity to talk about the gender equality. As a result of the project, the participants started to work on gender mainstreaming, social inclusion and gender equality and they started to implement it. The participants realized the problems in their local and countries and it created an impact on participants. And the participants had an opportunity to see the reality of Turkey and they got information about the problems of Van.
