The project "Quality Teaching, Effective Learning" is a two-year project. The group of participants consists of all the teachers at Salaskoli and it also applies to every student within the school. The main objective of the project is to improve teaching mode and contribute to more effective learning for students. At the same time it is intended to give the teachers a new perspective and to promote their collaboration with teachers elsewhere in Europe. The project is first and foremost a continuous education project: Firstly, it is supposed to help school administrators become better qualified to lead school-development. Secondly, it is supposed to assist teachers in training students in literacy, writing and expression. Third, it is intended to make information technology become an even more effective tool in teaching and learning of all grades. Fourth, to have coherent theme studies established in 15-20 % of the study period in grades 5 to 10. This is coherent with the school curriculum and policy. The project enables teachers to attend a course on information technology and thematic teaching in Malta in August 2014. It enables the school administrators to attend a course on school evaluation. That course will be in Austria in the spring of 2015. It also enables the teachers to visit schools in Finland, Denmark, Sweden and the UK that have come a long way in developing information technology in both teaching and learning and also other schools that are in the frontline of teaching literacy in a broad sense, writing and expression of any kind. The timeline of the school visits will be within the two years of the project. The pre-mentioned teaching mode will be systematically established during these two years. A great emphasis will be put on communication within the group of participants, in seminars and the school visits will be presented at faculty meetings. At the end of the project there will be an assessment on how it turned out and what it did contribute to the development of Salaskoli.
