FINISHED
In order to innovate the school curriculum and introduce new teaching methods, 1st Primary School Bjelovar needs teachers, who will have better competencies related to their professional profile. To achieve that they need to acquire new teaching methods, adopt a critical and reflexive approach towards using new technologies and also improve their language skills. We are aware that only in this way we can increase the ability of working at international level and strengthen the cooperation with partners from other countries.
The ability to achieve these goals is seen in the professional development of three teachers and job shadowing of the principle. The foreign language teachers will improve their knowledge in the field of ICT in teaching and usage of innovative method CLIL. The lower grade teacher will improve her language skills, and the principal will develop her skills in order to improve the European dimension of our school.
The school needs to innovate the school curriculum and introduce new teaching methods to improve the quality and enhance and modernize the international cooperation. The development of new methods of teaching and learning will be achieved by introducing the CLIL method which will show students that the contents of teaching are related and interdisciplinary. With the introduction of new teaching methods that include critical usage of ICT, our school will develop and improve the digital competences of the staff. By improving the language skills of the teachers who do not teach foreign languages, we will contribute to the development of the European dimension in our school. That will also ensure the implementation and usage of innovative teaching methods and provide more opportunities for professional development of the school staff. By participating in job shadowing the principal will increase her management skills and adopt new strategies of internationalization.
The participants of the project will go through preparatory activities that include cultural and linguistic preparation and organization of the trip. During the mobility they will actively participate in the activities scheduled in selected courses and during job shadowing. After the mobility, they will hand over a detailed report to AMPEU and their school. They will disseminate the acquired knowledge in their school and in other schools in the local community. The effects of the project will be evaluated by using surveys and research. They will evaluate the effects of the project through questionnaires which consist of measuring student content with new extracurricular activity, and with the new method of teaching CLIL, as well as the student content with learning using new technologies.
The questionnaire will research the content of the participants who were involved in the mobility. New ideas and knowledge will be collected and consolidated in a report according to which the curriculum for the new school year will be planned. The motivation of students will be researched by carrying out questionnaires, while the improvement of language skills will be evaluated by better educational results. The level of the teachers’ awareness of the European project and the values of the EU will be assessed by implementation of eTwinning in teaching and also by monitoring the number of students involved in eTwinning. The increasing interest of the school staff for the usage of technologies in extra-curricular activities and regular classes will be estimated by a questionnaire. The greater involvement of the school staff in the international projects, in which the foreign languages are used, will be established by monitoring and with that the school will determine the increased level of the internationalization and cooperation with countries in the region. The implementation of ICT in regular classes, international projects and extracurricular activities will be compared before and after the project realization.
The school quality team will analyze the attitudes of teachers in relation to their greater engagement in efforts to increase the school development quality and also to achieve the permanent value.
Upon completion of this project, participants will be more motivated and satisfied with their work because they will improve their digital and language competences, learn how to implement new teaching methods and how to improve the internationalization of the school. This will also increase the quality of their work in favor of their students. It will have a positive impact on educational outcomes of students, especially on the enhancement of the digital and language competences, which will increase students’ self-confidence and their motivation.
In the long term this will reflect on the increased capacity of teachers and school in general to work in an international level, to increase the management capacity and strategies of internationalization of the school and also to enhance the collaboration with partners from other countries.
