The Future of Europe – a learning project aims to support youth engagement in European challenges. Current challenges such as the economic crisis, refugee challenges and political tensions among the member states will shape the future integration of Europe. The objectives of the project are to provide teachers with innovative and engaging materials and activities in order for them to engage students of higher secondary education directly in the debates on the future of Europe. These objectives are manifested in activities, materials, best practices and will be made available for all teachers and students of higher secondary education institutions in Denmark. To obtain these objectives, the Future of Europe project develops a number of activities. DEO will produce free online crash-course material consisting of exercises, theme packages and corporative learning materials, as well as didactical video podcasts featuring EU-experts and politicians, which will all deal with the current European challenges. DEO will also arrange teacher training conferences, where teachers are presented with the abovementioned learning material and academic knowledge to qualify their teaching and enable them to engage their students in deabtes on the current challenges to the EU. Ultimately, the project will execute two large-scale Future of Europe Youth Conferences, where students of higher secondary education will use the knowledge they have obtained by the teachers. The students will engage in dialogue with each other as well as with EU-experts and politicians to discuss the current challenges facing the EU.The project builds on several years of experience with EU-education activities in the DEOeducation initiative. The Future of Europe project is therefore expected to have a strong impact on the qualification of the teaching of European integration in higher secondary education institutions.
