The project “From book to e-book” will take place in Umbria, in the centre of Italy, in Foligno. A network of 4 partners will take part in this project: Italy, Hungary, Romania and Spain, involving a group of 40 kids for 9 days (with travel days) from 11 to 19 July 2016. The kids will be aged 18 to 25 and they will explore together the tradition of an ancient job, that brings with it all the importance of the paper’s invention during the human history. Starting from the ancient art of making the paper, the participants will discover how much it has been important for the transmission of human traditions and knowledge through the centuries and how it is going to be replaced by digital technology, that can create e-books where no paper support is needed.During the project the young people will learn how to make paper, at first, with the old method and, then, in a new way, in a paper factory where the new needs of sustainable economy match the recycling policy, in the view point of the new need to adapt response to environment. At the same time, they will be involved in the analysis of some legends/tales of the involved countries using the method of storytelling. These stories, that arrived to us thanks to the invention of the paper, will bring important elements of the countries’ cultures. They will be contained in a traditional book made with the hand-made paper, leading the strongest intercultural elements of the project. Then the participants will create their own legend/story to be written in an e-book. Ancient technics and contents will live together with the most modern technology, in a temporal flow that will let the participants understand where the modernity they’re living comes from, acquiring new ICT competences. This project will proceed in the form of a stay of 9 days in Italy. It will be declined in several phases:- young people will have to be implied with the preparation of the project in their country, carrying out research on the theme of ancient legends, culture and tradition in their countries. - at the time of the stay, the work programme envisages ludic meetings to provide participants with inputs in terms of skills and motivation to encourage entrepreneurial success in a variety of settings, for intercultural discoveries, as well as the realization of the final products that will have the capacity to include both the traditional elements and the high-tech one. The youngsters will have the goal to create it, divided in 5 working groups where they will have to be able to share their culture with the other participants, understanding each other, underlining similarities and finding out that the differences mean richness. They’ll develop team building and organizational skills, learning how to work in a small group and to co-ordinate their job with all the groups of the other workshops. This final product will be then duplicated at disposal of the partners for presentations with associations of young people, local and international establishments in order to sensitize young people with the topic of culture, inclusion and creativity. The working language will be English. Tradition, culture and European dimension, active citizenship, English language improvement, intercultural exchange will be the main areas where the kids will be called to take part in and to be involved directly. The methods will be: storytelling, learning by doing, group work creating mixed group for sex and socio-economic situation, participatory approach, personal involvement through evaluation tools, playful way to encourage and help socialization, peer to peer education, role plays and team building. The expected results will be qualitative with:1-acquisition of skills, abilities and knowledge in ICT and entrepreneurship;2-acquisition / reinforcement of soft skills as transferable skills in all areas of work;3-acquisition / improvement of linguistic and intercultural skills;4-training / enrichment of the concept of European citizenship.Quantitative with:-a higher level of employment of the beneficiaries of the project in relation to the ability of the same to invest in its own capacity;-More contacts with organizations, companies already involved in the project, with which to continue a relationship of mutual collaboration, with training activities that could lead to future job opportunities. As potential long term benefit, the whole partnership will promote a nationwide approach to engage young people in learning activities that lead them to a sense of entrepreneurship that can be spent in the workforce, demonstrating how they meet the new market demands. At European level, the project will lead to the establishment of a network of actors: schools, NGOs, governments, able to exchange good practice, information.
