PROJECT
FINISHED
In having the opportunity to participate in the LFEE French immersion course, we endeavour to raise the profile of modern languages within our school and ensure successful implementation of 'Languages 1+2'. We feel it would be very beneficial to have access to a real life experience, engaging and communicating with native speakers. These skills will be transferable to ensure motivation and confidence within our learning and teaching, thus ensuring progression throughout primary school and into secondary school. As Curriculum for Excellence aims to equip all our young people for life and to prepare them for a future in Scotland that is open to the world, language learning is a high priority. Language learning is a is a communicative skill which will enable our young people to participate fully in a global society. Through Learning new languages young people can become successful with opportunities relating to working and travelling abroad, understanding Scotland's relationship to other countries and gain awareness of cultures and languages as well as their own. It is a strong desire that we makes link with a French school, as this will have a huge impact on pupil's learning. This will get pupils communicating across Europe with the use of ICT. As we are all members of the French Working Party, working at different stages within the school, it was felt that we were the most suitable candidates. On return, we will arrange a whole staff meeting in order to establish a time frame/plan of action for teaching French across all stages of the school. We plan to share skills learned and resources with all staff and hold training evenings for staff within our cluster.
