Foundation for Future Inclusion
Start date: Mar 1, 2013,
Foundations 4 Future Inc. is an EVS project which integrates European members into other partner countries located around the globe in order to achieve the common goal of establishing the foundations for youth inclusion for those youth with fewer opportunities. Within this project 12 Volunteers from the Netherlands, Spain and Slovenia will serve in Costa Rica and South Africa for the personal and academic development of disadvantaged and mistreated children. Over the course of 6 months, the volunteers will not only work toward the positive development of children, but will also build upon their own professional background, developing new skills in the area of youth development.Following the frameworks of intercultural learning, collaborative efforts and promoting solidarity; a group of young adult volunteers from Europe will travel to South Africa and Costa Rica where they will join the already existing team of workers at an educational center/home designated for "disadvantaged" youth, as well as for children who have been mistreated. Volunteers are needed to provide structure and guidance in order to help these youth grow into functional and active adults and to act as healthy and positive role models for these youth. Volunteers from partner countries are also needed in these areas to further develop and assist in establishing an innovative and functional education and technology curricula for youth; as education is often key for socioeconomic inclusion. For instance, by helping to teach English or their own mother tongue or assisting in familiarizing youth with computer technology or mathematics, volunteers from a variety of ethnic backgrounds will help to provide and shape these youth with the cultural sensitivity and understanding necessary to work in broader career fields in turn promoting and shaping more productive and active young members of society.
