Formation des travailleurs sociaux et approche innovante du handicap en Europe
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Europe and Handicap project aims at the development of skills regarding disabled people’s support for social workers in professional education within the European multicultural context. Through this project, IMF, who develops an international exchanges’ strategy for trainers and trainees, joins an approach of stronger partnerships with the Belgian, Romanian and Italian social and medico-social establishments. The search for establishments or services specialized in education and support to the disabled people is increasing. By renewing this project, IMF, through its Projects and Development Service, maintains its will to have a long-term mobility and exchanges measure in the European Frame for trainees preparing National Diplomas in Social Work (level IV and V from the French list of 1969) and to open this measure by integrating another modality of cooperation with the partner countries’ professional social workers. The proposal concerns the admission of 16 first year’s trainees in Belgium, Romania and Italia within establishments giving support to disabled children or adults, for 4 weeks during the 2nd semester of their professional education’s first year. The purpose is to realize an internship, within comparative aim, on observation and discovery of the partner structures. The main purpose of this project is to allow the trainees to discover a new method of disabled people support’s coverage in the partner country; in order to understand the diversity of social answers to the same phenomenon at a European level and therefore to develop professional capacities and new skills in relation with the labor market’s needs. This is an opportunity for these trainees, who already have an experience in the disabled people’s field in France, to discover new methods of support and to get experience with implemented professional practices from other professionals. The establishments include residential services, as well as day care or specialized schools. These structures developed a particular expertise in the disabled people’s coverage; they will insure, upon the arrival of the trainees, introductory courses on the coverage’s frame, as well as the intervention’s methodology. Beside this theoretical framework, essential to understand observed practices, within a co-constructive dynamic internship, the beneficiaries will develop and will negotiate with their establishment their internship project’s implementation details (meeting with professionals, active observation within the establishment). Since for several years this effective cooperation is based on a partnership between IMF and its partnership network including Belgian, Romanian and Italian institutions which improves, regarding organization, the trainees’ internship and reception’s conditions.
