"Following cultural heritage" is a EVS project, which will take place from 1st July 2014 to 1st July 2015 in Lublin. Within the project Ośrodek "Brama Grodzka- Teatr NN" will host two volunteers from Israel, who will participate in two different activities (Festiwal Singera and "BRAMA" - Polish-Jewish youth meetings).
The project has been inveted to host in Lublin people, who are eager to explore and discover cultural heritage as well as gather knowledge and documentation about Polsih-Jewish history among last century, who were living in Lublin and Lublin's region. The aim of the project is also to educate the local sociaty and make them aware about this heritage.
There are two partner-sending organizations taking part in the project: first - Sparkpro is sending organziation for volunteer Tal Schwarz, whose 9 month activities will concern around the idea of Singer Festiwal during which she will promote the festival, gather documentation and lead some of the workshops in cooperation with animators and other organizers working in NN Theater. Volunteer will also have space to explore her passion, by creating her own photographic exhibition, which will be the documentation of Lublin's history in the context of Polish- Jewish heritage. She will also organize photo-reportage workshops for youth. Her activities will also concern around preparing alternative paths for milticultural turism.
Another partner in the project is iEARN - Israel Organization which will be cooperating with volunteer Yael Vishnizki Levi, who will take part in 12-month activity ("BRAMA"- Polish-Jewish youth meetings) within the project "Following cultural heritage".
The activities will concern around discovering Polish-Jewish historical heritage and organizing workshops for youth from Lublin's and Lublin's region schools. The aim will be to create a deep relationship between Polish and Jewish youth by creating artistic and historic workshops and by creating an internet platform, which will be the base to keep the contact between youth and exchange knowledge about history and culture of jewish-polish heritage.
Volunteers will have contact with youth from small villages around Lublin, what will be a chance to promote the idea of EVS projects among the youth, which is dangered by social exclusion. The big advanatge of this project is direct contact Jewish volunteers with local society, because this activity in long term perspective may influence the extirpation of anti- Semitism attitudes.
The project "Followin cultural heritage" is a great chance for Lublin's region to gain information about the history and cutlure of the place of living, which is more and more often marginalized.
Moreover the cooperation between Polish and Jewish schools, as well as cultural intitutions will also benefit from the project.
The project will also influence relations between Polish and Jewish soscieties, through discovering the different parts of common history and culture.
