The opening in Europe and on the international stage is at the heart of the school project of Sainte-Thérèse high school in Quimper. Actions and projects have been led for several years in this direction :
- The creation of a European Spanish Section in 2002,
- Correspondences and physical exchanges with English, Spanish and Italian schools as well as cultural journeys in European countries,
- eTwinning member since 2013.
Sainte-Thérèse high school feels the need today to revitalize some of its projects ( the European Section) and to create others, led by teachers in connection with disciplines close to the world of work.
This European Development Plan encourages the educational team to get involved in a common project of reflection with our European colleagues.
Worried of proposing an updated and quality education to their students, the school Group Sainte-Thérèse sees in the Erasmus + Program an opportunity to be seized for a quality training.
Six teachers of the high school volunteer to participate in diverse trainings based on linguistics, sociolinguistics, education, methodology or culture, all in connection with the school project " the opening to the world and communication as well as education in the discernment ".
Two language teachers (English and Spanish) will be able through structured courses to acquire knowledge and new skills, coordinate and enrich their teaching methods with their European colleagues or consider new partnerships.
Two teachers in connection with our European Section will improve their language skills and cultural knowledge in their respective domains (History- Geography and Social Science) and will think about new practices in class to highlight the potential of this option.
Finally, two teachers in disciplines in direct link with the world of the work shall take advantage of it to update their language skills and their knowledge in their subjects (Law and Economy) and to develop a better knowledge of the various education systems and of the European Institutions to pass it on to the students in class through contents and practical activities. The participation to this program will also allow them to create new opportunities for the pupils and the future students within the European Union, in term of training and employment.
These various trainings will bring a new dynamism to the teaching methods of the school and will sensitize all the educational community, so favoring the interdisciplinarity and the cross-disciplinarity. Besides the obvious linguistic interest, they will allow us to propose to our students an updated, rich and of good quality education, to widen our European contacts and be able to plan partnerships with schools of the European Union.
