PROJECT
FINISHED
With this project we would like to support the implementation of the following two guiding principles of our high school: cultural openness including international exchanges as well as quality assurance through professionalism of our teachers. Therefore, the aims of this project are the promotion of multilingualism and of intercultural competences in order to foster the international networking of the teachers and students of our school.
Three full-time teachers of our school who already have experience concerning the implementation of international projects would like to participate in this one, which is separated into three main parts. The first concerns a teacher of Geography/Economics and Computer Science, who has already been teaching DLP classes over the past years. She is going to attend a CLIL-course in Ireland to improve her English and her CLIL (content and language integrated learning) methodology. In the second part of this project a teacher of English and PE, who has been teaching in DLP classes for several years, is going to participate in a course in England (Norwich) that focuses on methodology and advanced language skills. She will broaden her mind by analyzing and evaluating materials used for teaching English. Thereby she will also improve her own languange skills.
Furthermore, a teacher of English/German as a second language and French was selected by the Federal Ministry of Education and Women for a pedagogical exchange with two Norwegian schools. The aim of this mobility is to support the teachers of German and to increase especially the motivation of learners and authentic communication in German as a foreign language in a high school in Moss. Afterwards, a Norwegian German teacher from the Grim skole in Kristiansand is going to come for one week to our school so that the teachers and students of our school are going to get the chance to learn more about Norway.
Through this project the language competences in English as lingua franca are going to be improved and there is going to be the chance to get to know Norwegian in order to support multilingualism more among Austrian students. In addition, the three participating teachers of our school are going to get to know the Irish, English and Norwegian cultures in these three countries and the intercultural competences of the teachers are going to be developed further. Besides, the methodological competences of the teachers are going to be improved through the courses and the exchange with other European teachers. Furthermore, the teachers can enhance their organizational competences concerning the implementation of international projects. The new experiences and competences are going to be passed on to colleagues and this project is definitely going to support internationalization and quality of teaching at our school. Finally, we would be delighted if the mobilities led to long-term partnerships with the Norwegian or other European schools.
