Fishbowl Youth
Start date: May 1, 2010,

Our project is based on themes of personal development and non verbal communication with a focus on young people. We aim to encourage personal awareness and development among young people. We believe that personal development is essential to encourage young people to expand their individual skills and interests while maintaining a positive and open minded outlook. Non verbal communication accounts for 55% of our overall communication and we often find it difficult to communicate among those who speak our own language, let alone those of a foreign nationality. As it will always be a challenge communicating within an international group, we aim to work consciously with these barriers. These themes will be explored by the participants through workshops being given, brainstorming, drama, dance and art. The aim of these workshops will be to provide a space for the young people to gain confidence in themselves as well as socially. It will end in a showcase of our work at the 'Performance night' that we are going to organise. This multilateral exchange in Ireland will continue for twelve days. Our partner organisations are from Italy, Jordan, and Morocco. There will be six participants from each country, plus two youth leaders per group, twenty four young people all together. The group will be staying at Boghill centre in Kilfenora for the first week and then Loughnanes's hostel in Feakle for the end duration of the project. Fishbowl youth will provide catering, from its experienced young leader group.
