FFB3: Fit for buisiness - experiencing the European work environment
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The students of three courses at the vocational college “Vera Beckers” spend times of learning abroad: - six students, who attend courses in textile manufacture and design and who will be qualified for universities of applied sciences after their degree, will stay in Turkey for six weeks - four students, who attend courses in nutrition and who will be qualified for universities of applied sciences after their degree, will travel to Spain (six weeks). - 24 students, who attend courses in cosmetics and who will be qualified for universities of applied sciences after their degree, will stay in Spain for eleven weeks. The aim of the project is to give those students the opportunity of spending their internships abroad. After their exams their job chances will be much better, if they are willing to go abroad and to work in other European countries, especially in Spain and Turkey. Thus, we do not only enlarge their competences, but also prevent them from getting unemployed, if we can make them think about finding their work places in other European countries. The students are mainly supposed to consolidate basic competences they have learned at school. Moreover, the students shall learn new working processes and skills that are not part of the school curriculum. Furthermore, they shall get involved into decision making processes, reflect their decisions and learn how to behave responsibly at their work place. In the school courses the students attend foreign language competences are essential. During their internships abroad they will be trained to make an appropriate and specific use of practical terms. The students do not only get insights into the typical national working processes abroad, but also gain intercultural competences by organising their every-day life in a foreign country. During the preparation of the mobilities ECVET documents are designed which will replace the previous learning and partnership agreements. They will provide better recognition, standardization and transparency (by publishing). The students will also get the "Europass Mobility". A `blended mentoring concept´ is used to supervise the participants. A team consisting of teachers and professional working experts organises the learning mobilities and cooperates with one partner in Turkey and several partners in Spain. Apart from the fact that the students will learn a lot and be able to take totally new perspectives this project offers advantages for all partners, e. g. they will be able to improve their position in the market. It is a long-term aim of our school to prepare and motivate even more students - also from other courses – to go abroad for their internships and to explore the European job market.
