The "Face to Face" project is developed in different municipalities of the island of Gran Canaria, and the participation of 24 young people from Corbeanca (Romania) and Varbovo (Bulgaria) and the participation of 15 young people from Gran Canaria and the involvement of young ex-prisoners. During the seven days of the exchange is carried out various activities and workshops designed to raise awareness of young people from other regions, the importance of historical, natural and cultural environment of the island, and as work in them performed allows one side to youth at risk of social exclusion can get other learning and life experiences, and other allows to present landmarks not be known, respected or protected imply the disappearance of the history of a place. Turcon can show the work which for years has been carried out on the island in relation to environmental protection, protection of so-called rural roads or serventías, recovery and enhancement, as well as direct work in the parks natives of the island (Tamadaba), and as conducting debates, workshops, seminars and counseling allows them to be a landmark on the island. The main objectives are, first, to exchange ideas and experiences on the reality of young people at risk of social exclusion (in particular young prisoners), knowing more closely the interaction with the environment and external reality outside the walls of the Prison, has helped them to new experiences, offering them the opportunity to meet young people of Schools who participated in the project reality. This form of implementation will allow young exchange participants, along with ex-prisoners youth discuss what actions would be required to perform in those marginal areas (Gran Canaria, Romania and Bulgaria) that enable young people who reside in them, their integration, like one in the society around them.
On the other hand, it is necessary that young people participating in the exchange are aware of the environmental setting of the island, its richness and diversity, thereby creating environmental and social consciousness (symbolic cleansing of an area of a natural park for the protection of the environment), if the development and the environment are or are not compatible (with workshops) and as protection of the environment and history allows knowing as were the inhabitants of the islands, their environment, the reality of that time and struggle for survival. Finishing with reflection activities that allow participants to eliminate topics, stereotypes and fears of cultural and social differences as well as the importance of the sense of citizenship that allows them to learn to respect each other and the environment. The project duration is 7 days, from 19th to 25th October 2015.
