This international multi-art form youth exchange creates an unlimited space of creativity for 42 young Roma and non-Roma from 7 European countries (Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, France and Germany). During 12 days the young people (aged 15-18 years) will create their own story and vision based on a wide range of artistic methods, including improvisation theatre, mimes, dance and body movement, musical creation, and photography. They will work together as a team, participate both in reflection and creative workshops around the general theme of "IDENTITY" leading to a final performance where they will have the opportunity to express themselves in public sphere. The project aims at strengthening the mutual cooperation between professional artists and youth (Roma) organizations working on local level with a specific concept of art action and social inclusion of young people of different social and cultural backgrounds. We believe in the long-term cooperation of this network and in the self-initiative and responsibility within the artistic and creative work of young people. The whole project is based on a process-oriented and inclusive approach in which the participants are the ones who shape the final product according to their ideas. ”Express yourself" wants to raise the self-awareness and self-esteem of the young people, give them the capacity to express themselves and empower them to get engaged in society and make their voices heard. Art and theatre are a lowthreshold means for involving young people with fewer opportunities which can stimulate them to involve in further activities. Art action is more than a tool!
