On the Island of Terschelling (Netherlands) young people from Germany, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and the Netherlands will meet in order to experience nature together and learn from each other. Outdoor activities are used as a tool for intercultural learning: The youngsters will be active together, work towards a common goals and have to rely on each other. This will make them conscious of intercultural differences and similarities.The participants will spend seven days in the beautiful nature of the "Waddenzee", one of the most important natural reserves in Europe. A perfect opportunity the work on the environmental awareness of Europe's youth. In workshops we will discuss the relationship of people with, the aims, objectives and methods of environmental protection and the possibilities for a European approach to the environmental issue.Workshops alone are not enough two create environmental awareness: nature should be experienced. The participants will enjoy the island and the see by (mud) walking, cycling, sailing and beach sports. After tasting the flavour af the "Waddenzee", they will start to think about the value of nature and necessity of environmental protection. The youngsters are stimulated to bring their newly acquired knowledge and awareness home, and use it in their local environment. In this way the project contributes to the active role of youth in environmental protection in a European context.
