Similar problems in the field of further education emerged in both Latgale and Vitebsk regions. Novka state general educational secondary school (Belarus) and Zemgale Secondary School (Latvia), as modern rural schools partially take over functions of the municipal institutions and become the peculiar community centres. The lack of proper social services near the place of residence, high level of unemployment and limited opportunities to benefit from employment contributing services in the territory of local community, including educational after-school activities for children, stimulates the necessity to enhance the cooperation even further. In order to solve these issues, both schools require equipment suited to the modern needs. Project aims to promote the collaboration of cross border educational institutions Zemgale Secondary School (Latvia) and Novka Secondary School (Belarus), investing in the development of professional, social and scientific-technological branches, popularizing cultural heritage and furthering exchange of knowledge and research. Expected Results: 1) 4 experience exchange and culture camps are organised and held (2 in Latvia, 2 in Belarus), qualification of 60 teachers and 100 students is raised through exchange workshops, scientific and practical conferences, astronomy and training workshops, astronomy and training master classes, cultural educational events; 2) necessary infrastructure for successful implementation of education in field of astronomy at Novka school is established - planetarium facilities with necessary equipment and observation area for astronomical telescope; 3) tractor with trailer is purchased for Zemgale school improving equipment of vocational training in agriculture; 4) 3 training rooms renovated (tractors training class, traffic class, the technical laboratory) at Zemgale school and the equipment necessary for vocational class rooms for both schools is purchased.
