The project called “Exchange through Generations” was born from the good and long cooperation between Uniser (as CO) and the two rest home Casa di Riposo Pietro Zangheri and Fondazione Don Baronio ( as ROs ). It will take part in Italy, in 2 different cities of Emilia Romagna region: in Forlì, 3 volunteers will be hosted, two in Casa di Riposo Pietro Zangheri, one in Uniser and another onein Cesena (20 km from Forlì) in Fondazione Don Baronio.
The project will involve 5 countries, Italy, Estonia, Spain France and Germany and aims to put in touch different ages and generations through the achievement of these goals : reinforce the dialogue between youth and elderly people ; strengthen the cooperation among involved partners and improve their knowledge of Erasmus+ programme, obtain a positive impact on youngsters and on the psychological state of elderly people involved.
As the cooperation among local organizations has been always positive, they have decided, this year, to reach a common objective involving all the participants. The four volunteers involved, will have to realize a common project with the main objective to get closer different generations. To achieve this objective the participants will have the mission to create a visual support ( like a documentary, a movie, a pictures exposition ) concerning European awareness and citizenship from point of view of different target involved, which it will be also a tool to disseminate and sensitize the local community about these themes.
They will have specific time dedicated to plan their methodology coordinating by the volunteer of Uniser and supervising by the different referents of the organizations.
During the project the volunteers will be free to decide how to use the suitable tools, provided by the organizations, in order to develop their creativity.
The Coordinating Organisation, Uniser , is also RO of this project and asks to receive one volunteer from estonian Sending Organisation EstYes, for 11 months (September 2014 - July 2015). This volunteer will be integrated in Uniser's professional team, contributing to the improvement of Uniser's services. The volunteer will mainly be involved in the management of communication about Uniser's activities and initiatives, in the participation of promotional activities of European Awareness, active citizenship and positive values at local and regional level, in the organisation of intercultural meetings, cultural visits and socialising events involving local and European youth, in the support of Uniser's hosting and sending activities. Moreover he/she will be a bridge beetween the youth ( italian or Erasmus students, trainees..) involved in the Uniser's activity and the other volunteers from the rest home in order to develop the common project. The contacts with the youngsters will help the volunteer of Uniser to collect their point of view about EU and confront it with the opinion of the elderly to create the tool (visual support).
The RO Casa di Riposo Pietro Zangheri will receive two volunteers, per 10 months : one from the french SO Calliope (from September 2014 to June 2015 ) and one from the german SO Via e V (from November 2014 to August 2015)
The RO Fondazione Don Baronio will receive 1 volunteer from the spanish SO Hacedora per 11 months ( from September 2014 to July 2015).
Although these two organisation have different characteristics, the volunteers role, the activities proposed and the learning opportunities offered are approximately the same:
The volunteers will be mainly involved in the animation activities adressed to the elderly people of the rest home, will help them during their displacements inside and outside the building and will support the staff with the meals distribution. This project aims to bring benefits to the elderly people of the rest home, to improve the quality of their lives through the presence of young and motivated European volunteers. The volunteers, as a bridge between elderly and youngsters, will bring benefit to these two target group, involving them in a mutual intercultural exchange through the an intergenerational dialogue.
The volunteers will be recruited after the approval of the application, when the Receiving Organisations and Uniser, in
cooperation with Sending Organisations will evaluate and select the candidatures received.
All volunteers will be asked to become promoters of EVS and Erasmus+ programme, of EU, its initiatives, opportunities and positive values, in order to ensure a significant impact of the project on communities involved, raising positive awareness and boosting new participation in the Programme.
