EVS Tervola lasted for 10 months. From september 2014 to june 2015. We had one (1) participant in the Project. We had almost 150 applications. Tervolas leisure departments worker and youth council participated in choosing the volunteer. Final decision was on a youth who had just graduated, but was unemployed. Objective was to give the volunteer the change for independet life, learn finnish languange and culture and for the volunteer to learn to take care of herself in a new wnviroment. Also one of the objectives was to give children and teenagers multicultural experiences. Project gave an opportunity to get to know a person from different culture, who also speaks different languange and has different customs. Through this things goal was to break preconceptions. Participants tasks were to work mainly at the youth club and at the after school club. Volunteer learned some working methods with children and youth that futher developed her skills with children and youth. She also learned lot of cultural differences that led to volunteer respecting different cultures and value her own. Volunteer also lbecame more independent during the project.
