ONGD-FNEL is a sister Organization of FNEL, one of Luxembourg's largest scouting bodies. Its mission is to offer better access to education to impoverished children in developing countries. Its main action area is Nepal, one of the poorest countries in the world. More then 2.6 Mio children are engaged in child labor.
ONGD-FNEL started in 1989 to prove through scouting that youngster and adults can do a lot of good work if they all work in one (same) direction.The first project was to build a school in a small village in Kathmandu valley, Godamhaur. This school have provided access to education to more than 600 students. An adjacent health post ensures they have access to proper healthcare.
ONGD-FNEL currently benefits from a frame agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, covering the period 2012-2014. A new frame agreement, covering the period 2015-2018 is currently under review. Our projects are mainly focused on improving access to education, but also touch upon healthcare and sustainable development.
ONGD–FNEL is a NGO association registered in Luxembourg rules in accordance to Luxembourg law, acknowledged by the MAE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in Luxembourg.
ONGD-FNEL supports young people who want to get involved in community development and especially concretely commit to supporting youth activities in Nepal. Our program is based on the « Learning by doing » principle . In the past years we involve youth in the actions of our association, here in Luxemburg (Service Volontaire Civique) and in Nepal (Service Volontaire de Coopération).
Our purpose is to create a better awareness among the youth with the aim of transmitting the community values to future generations.
One participant (volunteer). The choice of the candidate will be based on his profile (studies, interests). The skills and expertise of the persons that will be involved in the future Erasmus + activities will be awareness-raising, relations with partners, communication (web page, facebook etc.). Working languages: French, English, Luxembourgish.
ONGD-FNEL will involve the volunteers in his actions, introduce them in the day-to-day management of the association (meetings of work, public relations, development projects, administration).
Methodology used to cary out the project will be to analysed carefully all applications. ONGD-FNEL will select someone having good structure and organizational qualities, sense of initiative, good analytical and writing capabilities, autonomy in work while integrating with team. Knowledge of international cooperation and its challenges will be appreciated, as well as web design and social networks management. Weekly evaluation(meetings) at the beginning and monthly evaluation between ONGD-FNEL and the volunteer will be realized.
At the end of the project, the volunteer and ONGD-FNEL will be strengthened. The potential long term benefits for the volunteer will be a better future (profesional and non profesionnal) since the volunteer will have a complete experience in working in an international background.
