The LITERATURHAUS SALZBURG is one of the largest institutions for literature in Austria: meeting spot, place of events, home of literature groups, a place of various service facilities The " literaturhaus Salzburg" mainly organizes reading with regional as well as international authors; In spring 2006 we organized a meeting with writers and artists from Norway, in 2007 it was Bosnia (as the EVS volunteer comes from Bosnia)., 2008 Poland, 2009 Turkey and 2010 will be Finland. Besides reading there are plenty of events (about 220 each year): films, radio-plays, exhibitions, discussions etc. We also focus on promoting literature among children and youth. Finally we have a public library (with audio and video) and a café. You can find more about us and our work in Internet :http://www.literaturhaus-salzburg.at We offer a long-term EVS for 1 volunteer this time from Finland, themes and objectives are mainly about art, media, and literature in terms of creating solidarity considering European citizenship and as well as creating understanding between young people of different countries.The volunteer can participate in various tasks. She can help in the library with the management of media material. She can also lend a helping hand in the organization itself, whereas the tasks will depend on the interests and abilities of the volunteer (e.g working on PC). Last but not least, the volunteer will take part in the organization of the various cultural events we offer and will be partially in charge of them. This year, our yearly focus will be of the country the EVS volunteer comes from - as then both sides profit a lot!
