Evaluation and Assessment of the Role of NARICs
Start date: Feb 1, 2012,
Project titleEARN – Evaluation and Assessment of the Role of NARICsProject description With the development of the EAR Manual, the legislation imposed by the Lisbon Recognition Convention has been transformed into practical guidelines on how to properly apply recognition in practice. Furthermore, the BFUG Working Group on Recognition will provide recommendations on various aspects of the recognition process at the Ministerial Conference in 2012. All this forms a solid basis for the development of a joint recognition practice and policy for the ENIC/NARIC-networks. In order to assist the ENIC-NARIC centers in implementing the joint practice, the EARN project aims to develop a quality mechanism for the NARIC network. In doing so, EARN will enable ENIC-NARICs to objectify to which extent their practice adheres to the good practice as described in the EAR manual and in the LRC, and to make adjustments where necessary. More specifically EARN’s goals are to develop:1- a self-evaluation tool for ENIC-NARICs to objectively compare their practice to the common guidelines and practices agree upon and to make improvements accordingly. 2- a peer review mechanism, including an external assessment by other NARICs based on the self-evaluation tool.Project activities Development of a self-evaluation tool to be tested by project partners to assess their own practice; Analysis of the self-evaluation reports; Development of a Pilot Peer Review in which members of the project team will review each other’s recognition procedures; Close collaboration with the ENIC-NARIC networks to make the tool available for future useTarget groups- ENIC-NARIC network- All actors in the EHEA which benefit from fair recognition: students, employers and higher education institutions.ImpactA quality mechanism for the ENIC-NARIC networks will improve recognition practice of ENIC/NARIC centres and will strongly contribute to realizing a joint European recognition practice
