PROJECT
FINISHED
We are a vocational school in Tarnobrzeg, Poland. In our project we are going to send 68 students (in 3 groups) to Rimini to do internships there. The students are going to do internships in IT technology, hairdressing, gastronomy, trade and tourism depending on their school faculty. Some of the students taking part in the project are under 18 so 2 teachers are going to travel abroad with each group. Tarnobrzeg is located in the south-east of Poland - region with a high rate of unemployment, which results in low living standards of our students and their families. Consequently, teenagers hardly ever leave our region and it is difficult for them to adjust to modern life. Our students always do their internships in small workshops with few customers so they cannot gain proper work experience. Lack of suitable
work experience, language barrier and lack of intercultural competence cause social and work exclusion in our region and country. The plan of internships is consulted with employers and adjusted to innovative trends. What is more, our school tries to adjust its
educational offer to the needs of job market and we cooperate with our local job centre. Local job consultants claim that employers require employees who are creative and have a good command of foreign languages. Moreover, global job market needs workers with international experience. Only foreign internships will allow our students to get undeniable practical working skills. According to current internship plans, the internship in technical
classes lasts 4 weeks. To give our students a good insight into actual Polish and Italian job market, we decided that our students are going to do a 2-week-internship in Poland and a 2 week-internship in Italy. To meet the requirements of Polish and European job market, we prepared a project which is going to help our students improve their qualifications and language skills, provide a resource for personal development and maximize their chances for finding employment. The project aims to make vocational education more attractive, increase mobility of prospective employees, expand students' horizons, develop intercultural competence. After internships in Italy, our students will have new unique practical and interpersonal skills. They will learn a lot about Italian culture, habits and lifestyle. The region of Rimini is a good place for gaining work experience due to a big number of tourists and companies. To prepare the participants for the mobility, several courses are going to be organized for them: Italian course, English for special purposes course (depending on the participants' faculty), cultural and pedagogical workshops. We are going to attest and record the learning outcomes of students engaged in the project according to ECVET. Every student will also get Europass-Mobility, 2 language course certificates and the internship certificate.
