European Transition Exchange Network

The strained situation on the European professional training and job market is pretending new ways of information, of the consultation and the matchings of supply and demand, increasing mobility requirements in the vocational orientation phase as well as qualification phase. As early as the end of the 1990’s, an Internet-based internship exchange to bring together internship and job seekers, schools, companies, work placement agencies and authorities was instituted in Paderborn (Federal Republic of Germany). The idea of the EUTREX Leonardo da Vinci project is based on this internship exchange: The goal of the project is to establish an Internet-based European mobility exchange to provide access to internships, training positions and jobs through a network made up of Internet- based exchanges in the partner countries.EUTREX stands for “European Transition Exchange Network“. The European Union (EU) has supported the project within its programme Leonardo da Vinci (01.10.2005-30.09.2007). There were cooperating 14 project partners (vocational schools, SME, educational facilities, labour offices, developers of occupation-training technical literature) from 11 member states of the EU and Turkey in the project with the aim to set up a European mobility network. In order to build up a European internet-based mobility exchange network, the following steps were necessary:1. Exchange between the countries, as training and job market-referred consulting processes and Matching function.2. Regenerate, evaluating and spreading the information for integration into the training and labour market.3. Point out from trends on the training/job market and transnational realizations regarding future developments.4. Exchange of experiences with regard to the needs and demands of a European internet-based mobility platform. The core project result of EUTREX is the mobility platform www.eutrex.eu. All interested people can find at a single Internet address the most important information about placements and training vacancies in the participating states and beyond. The information and documents are available in different languages. Furthermore, all results and products of the project are available at www.eutrex.eu, e.g. the “Guidelines for the Construction of an Internet-based European Mobility Exchange”.
