European Network to promote new technologies in rural territories

The RURALTECH project assumes that widening the use of the new technologies in the rural areas of the Atlantic Area is a strategic necessity of the first importance for promoting development which is territorially balanced among urban and rural areas of the Atlantic Area. RURALTECH seeks to create a European working network responsible for analysing the actual and potential demand for the NTIC in the rural zones considered by the project, and for promoting the demand for and the supply of the new technologies by promoting their use - by means of demonstration pilot schemes, training and activities of popularisation. Achievements: ✔ Creation of a permanent trans-national working network for NTIC ✔ The scheduled actions were carried out ✔ Studies carried out, particularly of the penetration of NTIC in rural zones and their interaction with male-female equality, ✔ 80 pilot demonstration actions: establishment of single windows and Internet access points in public places and in administrations (testing of E-Government), ✔ 429 training courses for the inhabitants of 81 rural zones (3600 people) particularly for women (67%), ✔ Study of the potential demand for NTIC in rural zones, ✔ Promotion of equal opportunities between the populations of rural zones and urban zones and actions in favour of women, ✔ 10 regional digital information bulletins specific to the project, 3 press conferences ✔ 7 trans-national meetings and regional seminars, ✔ Creation of a website specific to the project: http://www.interreg-ruraltech.net/ ✔ 2 papers in scientific journals.
