The “Khevenhüller Gymnasium” is a school of general higher education with the branches “Realgymnasium” and “Kulturgymnasium”. “European Mobility of Khevenhüller Gymnasium Teachers” should promote the communicative competence for Europe and improve the use of the English language as a medium of communication in particular. The branch “Kulturgymnasium” pursues – together with the general educational purposes – the following objectives: recognizing cultural connections, approaching other cultures and people with the use of foreign languages, targeting rhetorical and communicative competences in order to present ideas. Spending weeks abroad for cultural and language reasons as well as conversation in English and cultural project management are significant elements of the curriculum in the “Kulturgymnasium”. The teachers are the central element of the further development of the “Kulturgymnasium”. The acquisition and the improvement of the teachers’ language skills should have the following aim: English-language media (printed media, electronic media, virtual museums) should be implemented better into the didactics of the “Kulturgymnasium” and in addition, educational content should be communicated in English on a more regular basis. In the long term, it is the aim to promote the students’ and teachers’ intercultural communicative competence in English. Furthermore, the newly introduced “prescientific thesis” (= “vorwissenschaftliche Arbeit”) offers a number of very good opportunities to consider English-language sources.
