REFERENCE: 564422-EPP-1-2015-1-IT-EPPKA1-JMD-MOB_EMSETITLE: European Masters Programme in Software Engineering, EMSEObjectiveThe European Masters Programme in Software Engineering (EMSE) aims at educating a new generation of software engineers and researchers who meet the requirements of European software ICT practice today.Course durationTwo years (120 ECTS credits).Brief descriptionEMSE is a master's of science completely taught in English and offered by a consortium of four universities, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Italy, coordinator), the University of Oulu (Finland), the University of Kaiserslautern (Germany), and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) and supported by a network of world-class research institutions and companies. The programme foresees a mobility track consisting of two mobility periods of one year each in two different universities of the Consortium. A learning path is a study plan defined on a specific mobility track. The curriculum consists of modules (divided into foundations and advanced topics in software engineering), a mandatory internship, a summer school, and a master thesis. The EMSE curriculum covers a wide range of topics, such as software process management, verification and validation, software design, requirements engineering, advanced topics including software quality, distributed systems and development, global software development, embedded systems and open source software and agile development. The discipline of software engineering tries to bridge the gap between industry requirements and the findings of the research. The European Master in Software Engineering supports this approach by offering a wide range of courses based on both theoretical and applied research results of the partner universities. The courses are project-oriented and are offered through a wide range of industry internships and university projects for the students. The program consists of basic courses (Advanced Statistics, Requirements Engineering, Verification and Validation, Software Quality and Management) and elective courses (for example, Distributed Systems, Information Management, Computer Networks, Cluster Technologies, usability). Career prospectsEMSE students are given the possibility to continue their training in academia with a PhD programme. They thereby get benefited by the excellent links of the EMSE program to international research institutions. Among them, in addition to numerous international universities are the International SE Research Network (ISERN), the Italian Association of Informatics (AICA), the Consortium for Open Source in the Public Administration (COSPA) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering in Kaiserslautern. The compulsory internship programme allows students to establish links with the world of work and explore eventual job opportunities in more than 10 industrial partners and seven research centres from Europe all over the world. An international experienceEMSE students have the opportunity to study with students from all over the world in four European countries and get the most of an international academic experience. EMSE lectures are held in English and students receive training in local languages and cultures each year. The languages offered include Italian, German, Spanish and Finnish.DiplomaUpon the successful completion of the curriculum and fulfilment of the master's course requirements, students will be awarded a double degree, one for each university they have visited. In addition, they will receive a diploma supplement issued by the four universities of the consortium.Websitehttp://www.cs.uni-kl.de/en/studium/studiengaenge/emse/http://em-se.eu/
