Project titleEAR – HEI: European Area of Recognition. A manual for the higher education institutionsProject descriptionWhile the majority of recognition decisions in the EHEA are made in higher education institutions, recognition practices still differ widely between institutions and institutions are not always aware of the principles of good recognition practice. To tackle this obstacle for fair recognition and learning mobility within the EHEA, the EAR-HEI project aims to develop a recognition Manual for higher education institutions. In doing so, the EAR-HEI project will build on its predecessor ‘EAR’ and will include topics specific to higher education institutions (such as credit mobility). To ensure the EAR-HEI manual is easy accessible, it will be made available to HEI’s as a download on the EAR website: www.eurorecognition.eu.Activities Needs analysis  Producing a Preview manual and test it by admissions officers at selected HEI’s and wider group of stakeholders Use test results to develop a Final version of the EAR-HEI Manual. Disseminating the EAR-HEI Manual.Project teamENIC NARICs of: The Netherlands, France, Poland, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Ireland, and further the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee (president), ENIC bureau (president), Tuning, European University Association, European Student Union and the Hochschulrektorenkonferenz.Target groupsAdmissions officers in higher education institutions, ENIC-NARICs and students.Impact:The EAR-HEI manual is expected to: assist admissions officers in their daily practice and be useful to train new staff empower HEI's to start making their own decisions in line with the EAR-HEI manual to facilitate that ENIC/NARIC offices and HEI’s make use of the same set of criteria in evaluating foreign qualifications according to the good practice in the EAR manual lead to more harmonization and transparency in recognition, promoting learning mobility, thus being beneficial to international students.
