As part of its internationalization process, Robin institution makes it possible each year for 650 youngsters to go abroad through intership, cultural and langage stays or exchanges. However, so as to move forward, the school has decided to put the stress on teachers and staff mobilities as well in the coming years. This priority has been set by the school board and committee after consulting teachers' teams.
The goal is to create a work group that will assess foreign languages teaching/learning methods in our school. From that analysis, the teachers who will benefit from these mobilities will be responsible for assessing others school system and bringing out the positive aspects that could lead to innovative learning and teaching methods as far as languages are concerned in our school.
As for mobilities, the school is going to take advantage of actual relationship with partner schools. Five countries have been targetted : Germany, Italy, Spain and The UK, as well as Norway, acknowledged for its vanguard methods in language learning and especially ICT.
When abroad, teachers will be as observers in partner schools : language classes, functioning of language teachers' team, libraries for ressources, work sesions with languages teachers, and staff meetings.
Since relationship with foreign schools do exist, we have already received a verbal agreement to welcome our teams for a week of observation. The international relation department will be in charge of all the arrangements such as tickets and accommodation booking.
Thanks to these mobilities and the creation of the work group « Europe + » Robin institution is seeking to enrich and modernize learning, implementing methods which are used in other countries. Robin institution is aware that this whole setting may take some time to be fully effective, and that results may not be immediately measurable. Yet the total involvement of teachers and staff, at the origins of the request, is a real asset.
